WHITE FLOWERS PORTRA

Levitating somewhere between Still Corners and Vanishing Twin, Preston's White Flowers have followed up their shoegazey debut 'Night Drive' with its ghostly accompanying A-side 'Portra'. Centred around a picked chord progression that sounds like a gloomier version of Melody's Echo Chamber's 'Bisou Magique', reverb rich beats and shimmering whammy-effected guitars slide around the surrealist soundscape. Providing context to the hazy vocals White Flowers explained: "'Portra' is a reaction to living in a selfish world and deals with the feelings of powerlessness that come with that. We never really plan what our songs are going to be about, the meaning tends to reveal itself after we’ve lived with it for a while. For us, the song seems to be searching for some kind of balance amidst chaos." 'Night Drive/Portra' is out now on limited edition 12" vinyl via Tough Love Records. -Holly Mullineaux
